GCC Halal Dance Ministry Statement of Purpose

In the “Movement Visual Arts,” we are called to express the heart of worship through various forms of movement and expression.

The goal in any visual ministry is to be so hidden in the Lord that He is the focus of those who are watching rather and the dancer is simply the one who helped draw you into His presence.

There is a real blending; a unity that can be established between the musicians, the singers and the dancers during worship.

In Psalm 133:1, the Hebrew word for “unity” is “yashev” and it means to be melted together as by fire!

In ancient Israel, King David used dance to worship God and to unite the people in times of war as well as in times of victory.  Today, God is bringing all of the Arts back to His church.

In Amos 9:11 and Acts 15:16, God declares that He will return and build again the tabernacle of David that
has fallen into ruins.  Part of that restoration is the establishing of the Arts which includes dance in its
many forms, such as liturgical,
drama, Israeli, modern and interpretive.

Dance allows us to express our grateful hearts and the love and passion we feel for all that the Lord has done for us.halal dance

Our dancers have been trained and encouraged to:

1 - View the stage as though it were a

blank canvas

2 - Begin to "paint" a picture through

3 - "Layer" the message "line upon line, precept

upon precept...here a little, there a little"
with items that express the heart of
the message.

The use of props in dance, such as tambourines, flags canopies, banners, streamers, etc., can give depth and meaning to the layering process that enhances the message of the worship song.
